New Calendar: Colour Matt

Hello Hello,

I’ve just created my second calendar based upon my first photographic series: Colour Matt.

Colour Matt is intended to bring bright, colourful abstraction into people’s lives. A series that is fun, eye-catching and designed to make people smile.

For the moment the series is only available in Blue & Red, but a range of colour choices will follow.

Facebook & Twitter

Hello Hello,

It’s the second journal entry! Very exciting!

More thrills & spills this week: I’ve set up a Twitter feed and a Facebook page.

Along with oodles of shameless self-promotion (as to be expected by us self-centered artistic types), I’ve also started posting links for my favourite work here on redbubble. When I post a link for your work, I’ll send you a quick bubblemail to let you know. Hopefully when I link to your work, you’ll get a good chunk of extra views!

In other news, I’ve a few more features this week – including four for my newest work: ‘Colour Matt’. I’m uber-chuffed by this! Once again, I’ll list them at the end of this journal (self-centered artistic type).

Love & creative energy to you all!

Toby.

Hello, it's my first entry!

It’s been an exciting and inspiring first month on Redbubble for me. I thought it was about time I tried my hand at a journal entry.

I’d like to start by thanking everyone who has taken the time to look at, comment on, favorite and watch-list my work. I’ve always been fairly confident in my judgment of the quality or lack of quality of my own work, but it’s been amazing and surprising to have had so much positive feedback in such a short space of time.

I’d also like to say a special thanks to all the groups that have featured my work. A shamelessly self promoting list can be found at the end of this journal entry :)

I suppose I should say a little bit about myself (like many people, I don’t really like doing that): I was born & grew up in the North of England. I now live in Luxembourg where I teach English as a foreign language.

I first learned my photography in the guise of film-making which I did at Art Collage for three years. Like most filmmakers of my generation I did a lot of my work on video, but I also had the good fortune to work with 16mm film on several projects. After leaving Art Collage I had a fair crack at independent (noooo budget) film-making, but stopped when I felt I’d reached an impasse.

About two years ago (after being bored out of my mind teaching English in various Investment Banks here in Luxembourg) I borrowed my sister’s Canon 400D camera, and started to take a few photographs. Having not been very good at the photography component of my degree, I was as surprised as anyone to discover I could actually take one or two decent photographs.

Six months ago I decided to see how seriously I could take photography, and, in turn, where that would take me. Joining Redbubble has been a big part of that. Putting my own work along side the fantastic photography found on this site has been an inspiring, fascinating and, at times, paralyzing experience.

My intention now is to see how far I can push my photography, to see if I can take photos worthy of the exceptionally high quality of work I’ve seen on this site.
